In JoomLMS you can organize course materials in several different ways, based on your own preferences. Below is the list of main course structure types:
Learning Paths
You can combine course elements in sequences of steps called Learning Paths (for more information, see Learning Paths) and redirect your Students to the list of Learning Paths or a specific Learning Path immediately after they enter the course.
To enable the redirect:
- Click the Edit the course button at the Course Home page, LMS Home page or in the Courses List and go to Step 2 of the course settings.
- Select Yes for Auto redirect to a learning path (for Students).
- Select the List of the learning paths or the name of a specific Learning Path from the drop-down menu and save the changes. When Students enter the course, they will be redirected to the Learning Paths section or the Start/Resume page of the selected Learning path.
Topics
You can present course materials within frames called Topics (for more information, see Topics) located at the Course Home page. Students will see the list of course materials within the Topic and can open whichever material they prefer first.
Learning Paths can also be included in Topics.
Modules
Some types of course materials (Documents, Quizzes) can be displayed within respective modules at the Course Home page (for more information, see Course Builder > Step 5). Students will see the modules at the Course Home page when they enter the course.
There is also the Learning Paths module that displays the first page of the next incomplete Learning Path of the course.
Combination of elements
You can use any combination of modules, Topics and Learning Paths as well. For example, you can use the Learning Paths module to provide access to the Learning Paths of the course and add a Topic for displaying the supplementary materials of the course.
Alternatively, you can include both Learning Paths and other course materials in the same Topic.
