Each quiz in JoomLMS can have multiple questions. You can create new questions of multiple types directly in a specific quiz or link existing questions from Question Pools. This section of the manual describes how to create and link questions to a quiz, various settings available for questions and how to configure them, and lists all the question types available in JoomLMS.

To enter the Question management part of the course Quizzes section, enter the Quizzes section first, then click on the name of an existing quiz or the Question Pool. The list of questions in the Question management section can be filtered by the Question type, the Question category and the Quiz/Question Pool where the questions belong.

Creating Questions

You can create new questions directly in a specific quiz where the question should belong or add questions to the course Question Pool or the Global Question Pool (PRO version only) and then link them to a specific quiz later. New questions of all types are created according to the same procedure but the set of available parameters for each question type differs slightly. You can create a new question in the following way:

  1. In the Question management section of a specific quiz or the Question Pool, click New and select from the drop-down menu the type of the question you wish to add. You will be redirected to the new question page.

    question_type

  2. Configure the settings for the new question, as described in the Question Parameters section of this article.
  3. Under the Question Options, add the answers options if the type of the question allows that.

tipTip: To add an answer option, enter the text of the answer into the empty field under Question Options and click Add option to save the option. Repeat to create multiple options, if necessary. To remove an answer option click the Delete (delete_icon) icon next to it.

Warning: Make sure to select the correct answer option by checking the box next to it. If no correct options are selected, all answer options will be marked as incorrect by the system.

  4. Click Apply if you wish to preview the question at once after it is created or Save to save the changes and return to the list of questions. You will see the new question in the list of questions of a certain quiz or Question Pool where you chose to create it.

noteNote: Some types of questions (especially the types of questions that allow adding images as answer options) might require additional configuration, see Question Types for more details.
